About the Atelier
Welcome to Atelier Yumika!
My name is Camille, I’m French and I’ve been living in Hokkaido, Japan since 2020.
I’m originally a translator, but life threw me off on a different path and I’m now back to my very first love and passion: crafting things with my two hands.
In my Atelier, you’ll find a range of various handmade products, all crafted by me, one by one and with love, focusing on jewelry as well as pouches and small bags. I’ve always been deeply passionate about both (ask my mom!), so being able to make them myself is a dream come true.
I’m crafting my jewelry with natural gemstones, K14GF wires and K16GF parts (ear loops, clasps, etc.) only, to make sure they are as durable as possible.
(K14/16GF stands for "14-carat/16-carat Gold-Filled": it is a high-quality jewelry material with a thick, solid layer of 14k/16k gold mechanically bonded to a base metal (usually brass), containing at least 5% gold by weight, making it durable, tarnish-resistant, and a more affordable alternative to solid gold. It's also safe for sensitive skin.)
As for my pouches and bags, I’m mainly repurposing vintage, unused Japanese fabrics: I only use vintage silk, as it’s a gorgeous material to both work with and use everyday. It’s also heartbreaking to leave this amazing ressource to waste, forgotten in a drawer and never worn (or worse, even thrown away! Because believe me, it happens A LOT.). Giving it a second life is making me the happiest, and I hope it will give you the same feeling!
In addition to that, I also use 100% cotton fabrics, all made in Japan, for the linings, to change up the patterns and feel.
Thank you so much for visiting my small shop! I truly hope you’ll find something in here that will bring you some joy.
Cheers!
Camille
