FAQ

About the products

What kind of materials do you use?

I’m crafting my Jewelry with natural stones, K14GF wires and K16GF parts (ear loops, clasps, etc.) only, to make sure they are as durable as possible.

As for my pouches and bags, I’m mainly repurposing vintage, unused Japanese fabrics: I try my best to use only silk, as it’s a gorgeous material to both work with and use everyday. It’s also heartbreaking to leave this amazing ressource to waste, forgotten in a drawer and never worn (or worse, even thrown away!). Giving it a second life is making me the happiest, and I hope it will give you the same feeling!
In addition to that, I also use 100% cotton fabrics, all made in Japan, for the linings, to change up the patterns and feel.

Where are the materials made?

Almost everything is made in Japan: it’s actually very important to me! I live and create in Japan and so I want to honor that by sourcing materials that were made locally and in the best conditions possible. It costs more but it’s worth it, from a human perspective as well as from an environmental and cultural one.

The only exception is the natural gemstones beads I use: they cannot be sourced directly in Japan and I have to source them from Japanese stores who are themselves sourcing them from international vendors.

So, for example, for the pouches and bags:
All the fabrics used are made in Japan, either vintage or new;
All the parts are also made in Japan: zippers, strings, spring clasps, buttons, even the threads I use to sew everything together.
I embroider the tags by hand: the fabric of the tag is made in Japan and the threads I use are either made in Japan or made in France.

I am also the one who designed and made my own Business cards and the cards holding my Jewelry pieces with paper and ink made in Japan.

The paper tags attached to the pouches and bags are also carefully designed and crafted by me:
I use traditional Washi paper, made in Japan (that’s the paper with golden specks in it), as well as thick paper for the front tag, also made in Japan;
I use Mizuhiki to link the tags together: it is a traditional, very fine rope made out of paper and plastic, in Japan of course (it’s usually used to create beautiful knots in the shape of flowers and other natural elements, made to ornate seasonal decorations or gifts!);
The golden safety pins attaching the tags to the products are also made in Japan.

The tissue paper used to wrap the products and the paper boxes protecting the Jewelry are also made in Japan.
The stickers embossed with Atelier Yumika’s logo are made in Japan, embossed by me directly!

The padded envelopes and cardboard boxes used to send your orders are also made in Japan.

… So you can see I’m not kidding about sourcing everything I can from Japan! You could even say I’m a bit obsessed ;)

Is everything handmade?

Yes, everything is handmade by me, Camille, in my tiny Atelier. I use raw materials to create everything on my own!
I don’t and will never resell products that were made elsewhere or by someone else.

How are the products wrapped when sent?

I wrap all my products in tissue paper (made in Japan of course!) and add a sticker with Atelier Yumika’s logo on it.
After this step, I put the Jewelry in small paper boxes (also made in Japan) to protect them and avoid them to move around and get damaged during transportation. This is also because I love opening a small box when receiving some Jewelry… it adds a level of care and the unwrapping experience is even more pleasant!

For particularly delicate products, such as Embroideries, I also use bubble wrap to protect them from shocks during transportation.

I use either padded envelopes or small cardboard boxes (all made in Japan) to send your orders.
I strive to reuse other packing materials (such as paper or bubble wrap) as much as possible to be as environmental-friendly as possible!

Do you offer Gift wrapping?

All the products will arrive to you carefully wrapped and therefore ready to be gifted as is!

Can I return the products that I purchased?

Please refer to our Refund policy page for more information on returns and refunds.
