Embroidery Art - Asanoha
Details
Here is a piece of embroidery I created, representing the traditional Japanese pattern called "Asanoha". It's an abstract representation, made with a repetitive pattern all over the piece. By the way, it's also the pattern I used for part of my logo... yes I really like it!
I used 100% cotton DMC embroidery threads and Miyuki beads to give the piece a raised effect; the beads also attract a lot of light and brighten the whole piece! There is also a single pink Swarovski crystal bead in the middle. This pattern is very intricate and there are dozens of beads sewn on it!
The fabric is 100% cotton and is grey; the thread I used is a multicolored one: yellow, green, orange, purple.
I mounted the embroidery on an embroidery hoop, which comes with a piece of ribbon to hang it; but you can of course remove the ribbon and have the hoop sit against a shelf for example! That is actually my preferred method of displaying it.
I also backed the hoop with a piece of felt (with my handmade tag sewn on it!), to give the piece a more finished look, but it can be very easily removed as well, if you'd prefer being able to see the back of it (and the mess of threads, which can be pretty artistic in itself!).
The diameter of the hoop is 16cm.
This is an original and unique piece; there is and will be only one of it and I will not make it again in the future!
